As head trainer here at S.I.T. I believe it is my duty to educate our clients and to promote lifestyle training. Meaning: make polite, socially appropriate behavior, that fits with your lifestyle and unique family situtaion, the rule 100% of the time. We use proven and more importantly, effective and safe training methods. Our training will not encourage violent or aggressive behavior from either the human or the canine partner. This is particularly important if there are or ever will be children in or around the home. The reality is that our dogs are off-leash most of the time. If you start out training on leash, then you will have to slowly and carefully work your way up to off leash obedience. My thought is, start off leash in a safe, controlled environment and your dog will never know that it could be any other way.
